+001819

After receiving 2 phone calls from this number, I googled it and was annoyed that somehow, my phone number had leaked into the spam-machine of scam/telemarketing according to this link to Rippoffreport.com.

I called T-mobile to report it, and see if I could have it blocked and the best answer they had for me was that they could change my phone number. So there-in lies the rub, you can now keep your phone number, and take it to any carrier, and no one is ever going to lose your number, and they’ll always be able to contact you, but what happens when your phone number is poisoned? Do you give up all the benefits to keep your privacy? What a pain the ass.

I registered my cell phone number on http://donotcall.gov as suggested by someone. They called about 6 or 7 times, each time I ignored the call. Strangely enough, after I registered, they’ve called twice but each time I had missed the call since I didn’t have my phone on me. Next time they call, I’m actually going to pick up and alert them that I am on the list, and kindly request them to take me off their list, and if they don’t, I probably have some legal recourse. Oh how I hate telemarketers.

I also have T-Mobile and +001819 has been calling me every since I called T-Mobile on Wednesday 11/23/05. I’ve called T-Mobile several times and each time they refuse to take responsibility for my information leaking out to this spam company. I was advised to contact my local police department for assistance. I was also given the option of changing my phone number for a fee of $15. Each time I’ve called T-Mobile the customer service reps become upset and annoyed that I’ve been calling them. Well if they didn’t leak customer information to spam telemarketing then perhaps I and other customers wouldn’t become irrate and annoyed and continue to call them for assistance or lack there of.

You might wanna try to register your phone # on the do not call list (donotcall.gov) and then when they call back, alert the spammers that they’re on notice and that you’re on the do not call list.

T-mobile customer service has been going downhill in the past few years. You might want to automatically request a supervisor when you call them or select the “Cancel service” option and talk to one of the people there, they seem to be more pleasant since they want to keep your business.

I got 2 weird calls today actually. First one was from +918814221265 at 10:44am EST. I did a Google search for it and the country code for +91 is located in India. I thought maybe it was my sister who recently went to Germany (I didn’t know the country code for Germany at the time of the call), so I answered it, and like what was stated, I said “Hello.” and I just kept getting two guy repeating “Hello? Hello? Hello?” So I hung up.

That’s when the other number, +001819, showed up. I tried to answer it, but I didn’t hear anything, so I hung up.

    This is pretty annoying. >.>

I have verizon and have been getting calls from 001819 and 866-383-0986. I think it’s related to godaddy.com selling my contact registration information. Anyone else think this has to do with domain contact registration info?

I am on the DO NO CALL lists, and they call me at least 3 times a week. What can I do to make them stop?????

  18. Damn Scams » 866-383-0986 Says:

[…] Another 001819 scam? Sounds like it after I googled it and found so many people having the same issue. I just got the call from this phone number, 866-383-0986, and I didn’t know, so I picked up. Luck was on my side though, since I was out at one of my favorite burger joints in Virginia (Elevation Burger) and it was extremely loud, so I couldn’t hear anything. From what I could decipher, it sounded like an Indian accented woman, but I kept screaming, “I can’t hear you” into the phone. After a few seconds, I guess she gave up and hung up. Karma was on my side for once. […]

  21. Kathy Says:

I’ve been getting these calls from 866-383-0986 a couple times a day for the past two weeks. Last night, I got fed up and answered to tell them to take me off their calling list and to report them on the no call registry. The guy had a heavy Indian accent and said his name was Andrew. (Yeah, right). He was talking very fast so when he said where he was calling from I didn’t understand him. When he repeated again just as fast, it sounded like California Home Loans. I said California Home Loans? He said, yes. So, now we’re playing a game. I ask him to not call any more, he kept reading from him script, wanting to refinance my home loan. I told him that they have called me numerous times and can’t help me. He just kept trying. Finally I asked him for his phone number so I could call him back and he read back my number (two numbers at a time) and that’s when I really got mad and told him I was reporting him on the do not call registry and hung up on him. Haven’t had any calls today, but the day isn’t over yet. So Annoying!

  22. Jim Says:

I received a call from the number +001819 today. I have Nextel.
I received these calls before but today was the first day I answered it. It was an person with a thick Indian accent asking me to verify my domain _______.com which I actually have.
I replied that I did not have the domain then they hung up.

    What the hell is this????

I just received a call from +001819 today and am amazed that we cannot take any action. I suggest everyone conact their Congressmen, etc. and report this. BTW I answered the phone, but with a coach’s whistle. Hopefully they will not call back because of the loud whistle in their ear! Also, my cell phone carrier is T-Mobile.

What I enjoy about website blogs is the fact that they trigger a thought in my head. After that happens, I feel like I must write a comment hoping it will be helpful to some people. Simply because there are lots of web logs with unique points of view, they challenge your perception. It really is at these occasions when you have vital insignt the rest may not have had, including the blogger him/herself. I find myself coming back to to your site only because you have lots of really good insights and you happen to be at this a long time, and that is very impressive and tells me you know your stuff. Keep triggering imagination in other people!
